Earth is Calling on You

This literature is all about what is happening in North America specifically the typhoons that landed on their area. In the second line, it shows how strong and unstoppable the typhoon was, and also in the first line it is obvious by the phrase “great waves crashing into Florida”. It shows that circumstances will not stay in one place but from time to time it will travel throughout the world. In the title it’s like sending a help through the poem that is indirectly written that people there needs help to have attention and take an action, so all in all the message of this literature is to inform us that even if it is known and unknown country they are facing challenges and circumstances.

            The text is written in a free-verse and also it’s meter. It has 5 lines and 1 stanza, the poem is consisting of different kinds of figures of speech such as metaphor, hyperbole, and personification. Some words in the selection is defines in the following: Bulging cruelly means that there is a sudden appearance of calamities that result to distraction; Western desertification means as the process by which an area becomes a desert on the Western area; Toasting darkly means as the destruction of places through fire; Calling loudly means that the Earth is alarming us through natural calamities; and Haiti means to be a country located at North America.
